Sylvania is a pioneer in gas-filled LED lighting technology and has fundamentally changed the construction of a linear lamp with the development of Helios. This revolutionary light source uses high powered, gas-cooled LED filaments enabling a full 360° light emission. The tube is hermetically sealed ensuring no VOC or gas can harm the LED filaments. It also exceeds IP68 ratings, enabling the lamp to be used in a large variety of professional general and special lighting applications while helping users meet sustainability targets.

Why LED filaments?

Unlike traditional LED chips, Helios uses unique high-powered filaments which do not have a back mirror coating that prevents 100% light reflection. Instead, Sylvania’s gas-cooled LED filaments are mounted in transparent heatsinks (gases) ensuring that all the light can escape in every direction. This provides:

A better construction

Helios uses LEDs in vacuum-sealed glass tubes (>IP68) instead of open-to-air solutions. The benefits of this construction include:

Filled with heat-conductive gases for cooling without light-blocking metal heat sinks.

Optimised thermal management resulting in high lumen packages.

Keeps out sulphur and other gases that attack LEDs for better lumen & colour maintenance.

Prevents escape of silicone vapours from LEDs, which disrupt industrial processes e.g. painting.
