Semi-Conductor Industry

The photolithography departments of semiconductor foundries must use lighting systems that block the emission of actinic radiation having wavelengths less than 500nm.

SpeciaLITE Helios Gold does not produce any wavelengths below 500nm, without compromising the illuminance needed to allow people to perform tasks effectively and safely. No filter sleeves are required, since the lamp does not produce the actinic wavelengths. This improves the efficacy, lifetime and reliability of the lamp since there is no coloured sleeve that can degrade.

Automative paint workshops

A perfectly painted surface is every car’s staple feature and therefore represents an important measure of quality for the customer. However, all LEDs contain silicones which can interfere with the paint process.

Helios’ sealed construction eliminates silicone vapour emission from LEDs and enables the use in paint chambers, Additionally due to this IP68 design, hazardous gases from the paint process do not enter the glass tube and damage the LED’s, leading to outstanding operative efficiency and consistent colour rendering during it’s extremely long life.

Aircraft surface inspection

Aircraft should be kept thoroughly clean of deposits containing substances such as oil, grease, dirt and other organic materials to prevent from the potential risk of corrosion, degradation of seals, and plastic components.

Inspection requires a high CRI combined with a high efficiency, both of which Sylvania’s Helios White can provide. This lamp construction meets the additional need for stability at high ambient temperatures >50°C, which not possible for the majority of LED lamps and fixtures, but essential for the use in this application.

Vegetable storage

Vegetables are living organisms and even after harvest their biological processes continue. Some of these are sensitive to light and sufficiently high light levels accelerate their degradation and reduce their storage life.

For example, Helios Green is ideal for Potato storage. The lamp has been created using phosphor-converted Green LED filaments which are much more efficient than pure green and absorb the blue pump thus avoiding the 430nm peak, which reduces solanine and chaconine synthesis in potatoes, extends storage time and prevents these toxic compounds from being ingested by humans.

Wine Storage

Almost all LEDs for general lighting cannot be used for wine storage as they rely on a 450nm blue pump to stimulate the phosphors, and a large amount of this blue is transmitted.

SpeciaLITE Helios Gold filters out UV and blue components with wavelengths below 500nm, without compromising the illuminance. The lamps are highly efficient light sources and operate cooler than traditional LED and other lighting solutions, therefore do not impact the temperature and humidity control mechanism in the storage cellar.
